- UVic-UCC has its origins in the 9th and 10th centuries, with the establishment of the Scriptorium and Cathedral School, the forerunner of the future university.
- The University Teacher Training School and the first courses in Nursing opened the way to the current University enterprise, with its distinctive model of governance, combining four federated institutions.

1599
Creation of the Literary University of Vic. On 26 June King Philip III granted the Estudi General de Vic the privilege of conferring degrees in Arts and Philosophy.
1717
Closure of the University. In retaliations after the War of the Spanish Succession, King Philip V suppressed all Catalan universities and founded the University of Cervera.
1749
Founding of the Vic Seminary, bringing higher education back to the city, this time in Theology.
19th century
1873
Unsuccessful attempt by the City Council to refound the University of Vic. Presence of institutions such as the Episcopal Library and the Literary Circle.
20th century
1974
Creation of the Osona Women’s School of Health Workers, as an affiliate centre of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
1977
Creation of the Jaume Balmes University School of Teachers in Vic, as an affiliate centre of the University of Barcelona.
1979
Creation of Eumo Editorial.
1981
Creation of the Osona University School of Nursing, as an affiliate centre of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona.
1984
Creation of the Eumogràfic design studio.
1985
Creation of the Balmes University Foundation (FUBalmes), proprietor of the university schools of Teachin and Nursing, and of Eumo Editorial and Eumogràfic..
1987
Creation of the Osona University School of Business Studies. 1987-1988, first academic year of the Estudis Universitaris de Vic, with three schools: Teachers, Nursing and Business Studies.
1989
Creation of the Osona Polytechnic School.
1993
Creation of the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting.
1997
A bill recognising the University of Vic is passed unanimously by the Parliament of Catalonia.

Incorporation of BAU Design College of Barcelona as an affiliate centre.
2010
Incorporation of EADA Business School as an affiliate centre.
2013
Incorporació d’ESERP Business School, com a centre adscrit.
2014
Federation of the Balmes University Foundation (FUBalmes) and the Bages University Foundation (FUBages). The University is renamed the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC).

Creation of the Professional Campus for advanced vocational training (CFGS).
2015
Creation of the Foundation for Advanced Studies in Health Sciences.

UVic-UCC premises in Granollers.
