“After twenty years of close collaboration between private and public bodies, the Estudis
Universitaris de Vic have brought university life back to the city with such degree of social
acceptance, growth, academic quality and a regional consolidation that it is now possible and
justifiable that the Parliament of Catalonia gives formal recognition to the University of
Vic.”
(Preamble to Law 5/1997, of 30 May, recognising the University of Vic)
On 21 May 1997, the Parliament of Catalonia approved recognition of the University of Vic, marking the culmination of the Estudis Universitaris de Vic project.
Over the years, the University has expanded in scope and has set up a federated structure to join forces and become a force for regional knowledge and innovation, with a clear international vocation. This is the structure of the University of Vic - Central University of Catalonia (UVic-UCC), made up of four federated entities, with campuses in Vic, Manresa and Barcelona, and further premises in Granollers.
UVic-UCC organises activities in teaching, research and knowledge transfer, and seeks to imbue students with the values of individual creativity, professional rigour and social commitment.
